Also, regarding not knowing how many newsletter subscriptions one has, I am constantly served with ads for apps that will help you uncover all of your unknown subscription expenses, not just for newsletters, but for streaming services, etc. My question is, have people forgotten how to budget? I know exactly how many subscription services I pay for because I know where my money is. Which then gets me thinking about the writer of this article how does one unknowingly spend $3000 a year? It’s wild to me.
But maybe I should be viewing this as an opportunity. And taking time to find those people and suggesting they subscribe to my SubStack.
I hear you, but I have also been guilty of this. Sometimes the way these charges show up on your credit card is a bit mysterious and people don't "balance" their credit card statements the way we older folks used to balance our checkbooks!
Wow wow wow wow wowwwwwwww. The trailer for The Uninvited. Nadia Conners story. And the article about her. All dripping in nonchalant brilliance. So deeply motivating!!!
It was the best thing I read in Sunday's NYT. The second-best thing was Mathilde Ross's piece about motherhood. My favorite quote from that: "A child’s caregivers are the template for their future relationships, and relationships are not one-way. Do you want to raise a child who believes that the people around them exist primarily to meet their needs? Better that they learn, in an age-appropriate way, that give and take is important in all close relationships."
